In April 2018 I got told I’d got an internship in Berlin, I had the Summer of my life and met the most amazing people. The same time this year I found myself on the job hunt again.
After deciding that my priority this Summer was being back in the big city I knew I needed another little job alongside what I’m currently doing to get me by and to compete with Berlin’s crazy expensive housing. So I got up indeed.com and started the search with the keyword ‘Berlin’ in the search bar and seeing what came up.
Someone asked me a few days ago why I don’t base myself in Berlin and travel to other places like Utrecht for Uni and work rather than the other way round? Why do I come back so often and why do I love it so much?
After teary goodbyes and hauling my ridiculously overloaded bag to Tegel airport… I’m on my way back to Berlin!
I knew I’d be back sooner rather later, but I pictured my next visit to be in June or July. Clearly, the rainy, January streets of Berlin are too much to miss out on…3 weeks and 3 days later I’m heading back.
December was my last month in Berlin of my Year Abroad! Therefore I decided to note down my best bits to relish all 23 days I had of December before I dragged, tugged and crawled all of my belongings to Tegel Airport!
For the first week of advent, I got an early Christmas present in the form of one of my best friend’s coming to visit me in Berlin! Contrary to other visits I’ve had, this weekend was beautifully chilled and the perfect thing to get us both in the festive mood!
