It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

For the first week of advent, I got an early Christmas present in the form of one of my best friend’s coming to visit me in Berlin! Contrary to other visits I’ve had, this weekend was beautifully chilled and the perfect thing to get us both in the festive mood!

Friday: I moved into my new apartment in Neukölln and less than 2 hours later I collected my friend at Berlin Hauptbahnhof. This wasn’t the most stress-free night of my life, having hauled my things across Berlin and up to my new, Alt-bau Wohnung and frantically tried to ‘make home’ before her arrival, but it definitely made me more efficient and got the job done in half the time!

From the station, we hopped on the M41 towards Sonnenallee and stopped off for a well-deserved pizza and Christmas market stop in Potsdamer Platz. A big catch up and a few drinks later, we were tucked up in my new flat and ready for a great weekend.

Saturday: After a delightful lie in we got up and out and headed to Hackescher Höfe for a lovely, fancy vegan brekkie!

Then we decided to have the most christmassy day possible, slowly wandering around Berlin, gift buying and catching up on the amazing number of things we had missed in the two weeks we hadn’t seen each other!

Then to top it all off we went to the Gendarmenmarkt, possibly one of the most well known Christmas markets in Berlin and soaked up the atmosphere, topped off with ballerinas, Glühwein and all the fairy lights you could ever hope for!

Afterwards we headed to the Klunkerkranich near my flat to get a beautiful view of Berlin at night and for some live music before heading home

Sunday: Towards the end of our weekend we decided we should probably drink less wine, and do more culture! We hit up some of the sights and then went to the Alt-Nationalgalerie, for a warm and some art.

We then had a yummy lunch, ran around the Hauptbahnhof trying to find a plug to charge a phone and waved goodbye to Ellie once she was on her train.

I loved being able to show a friend from home a little bit of this wonderful city and just why I love it here, we had a hilarious time and had many conversations that will never make it online, but that we’ll remember forever.

Thank you for the most perfect weekend, I can’t wait to see you again and you never fail to make me laugh and brighten my day! See you soon!
